Carol Van Zandt is an artist and designer.  Currently primarily a modern quilter and abstract painter, she still keeps her portfolio active in the commercial art licensing market and will never give up her love of Japanese calligraphy and all things design.

Carol Van Zandt, the designer behind the brand, is a dynamic creative professional formally trained in both fine art, textile design and CAD. With a background in product marketing and distribution, Van Zandt works collaboratively with her client partners to develop the best art and design solutions for their products in a realistic fashion with an understanding of today’s markets.

Van Zandt holds a BA in Studio Art from Boston College and further studied at Massachusetts College of Art and Rhode Island School of Design. She studied textile and surface design for three years at The Institute for Textile Print Design in California. Prior to that she spent ten years studying Japanese calligraphy and sumi painting. Carol’s eastern art influences were further developed during her seven-year residencies in Tokyo and Taipei. She has had numerous solo and group shows in America, Japan, and Taiwan.

Carol has taught painting to young children, and botanical watercolor and drybrush techniques to textile design students. She has spoken both individually and on a variety of panels about fabric design and art licensing.  An exhibiting artist for many years, her paintings are in private collections in over 15 countries in Europe, Asia and America. Originally from the east coast, Carol lives in Oakland California where she enjoys the weather, the redwoods, the local food and her studio.
